Ph.D. Candidate Position at Nanyang Technological University

A Ph.D. position with scholarship of Jan-2025 intake is available in the lab of Assoc. Prof. Kedar Hippalgaonkar at School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The project involves the computation of thermoelectric properties or the crystal structure prediction or materials design by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, coupled with machine-learning algorithms.

 

Requirements

 

• Interested candidates with the bachelor/master’s degree are expected to be enthusiastic in computational materials science, computational materials physics, computational chemistry, or related fields. 

• Prior experiences of at least one of computational techniques like VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, or other DFT codes, are strictly required. 

• Previous experience in crystal structure prediction, Python programing, or machine-learning will be a plus.

• Basic admission requirements for international students: GRE >= 319 + 3.5; TOEFL >= 250 (computer-based test) or IELTS >= 6.5. Details can be found at the school’s admission page.
